Amish Mehta, Partner and Director of Not-for-Profit Services at Friedman LLP and Mike Cooney, partner at Nixon Peabody, will share their insights on the provisions of the New York Nonprofit Revitalization Act as they apply to Nonprofits registered but not incorporated in New York as well as share good nonprofit governance practices. This complimentary BoardSource webinar will take place on April 24 at 2:00 PM (EST).
The New York Nonprofit Revitalization Act, with most provisions effective July 1, 2014, covers many areas, such as the modernization of nonprofit governance, compensation approval, the definition of independent director, conflict-of-interest and whistleblower policies, and approval provisions for certain transactions. Certain provisions of the act related to financial audits, audit committees, and financial reporting to the New York State Attorney General apply not only to nonprofits incorporated in New York but to nonprofit organizations incorporated elsewhere that are required to register in New York due to their charitable solicitation activities in New York.
