New York – November 30, 2017 – Every year, Friedman LLP awards one Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) student majoring in Entrepreneurship the Friedman LLP Entrepreneurship Scholarship as an acknowledgement of the student’s academic accomplishments. This year, FIT selected Allison Ackerman as the 2017 recipient.
Ackerman, who will graduate from the Entrepreneurship program with a Bachelor’s degree next year, will use the scholarship to complete her final semester. After earning her associates degree in Fine Arts and Fashion Merchandising from the County College of Morris, Ackerman worked in the fashion industry as a stylist and visual merchandiser. Her future career goals include exploring the product development area of the fashion industry.
Harriet Greenberg, Co-Managing Partner and leader of the fashion and diamond and jewelry practices of Friedman LLP, joined William Reinisch, Chair of FIT’s Entrepreneurship program, and Michael Sacco, a partner in Friedman LLP’s Fashion practice, to present the scholarship award personally to Allison. “Allison embodies hard work, passion and vision—all qualities that will serve her incredibly well in the fashion industry,” said Greenberg. “We are thrilled to continue to offer this scholarship as an acknowledgement of academic excellence and means to help drive innovation for ambitious, new entrepreneurs like Allison. FIT’s dedication to empowering students who produce exceptional work, especially in the area of sustainable fashion, aligns with Friedman’s corporate ethos. It’s our pleasure to offer this annual scholarship to FIT students.”
“I am truly humbled and honored to be this year’s Entrepreneurship Scholarship recipient. This scholarship will help me pay for a required class that was not covered under financial aid,” said Ackerman. “This is a much-appreciated step towards my college graduation journey.”
