On November 14th, Friedman LLP and Partners Michael Saccomanno, Carl Bagell and Lee Sheilds were honored at the AFP (Association of Fundraising Professionals) 11th Annual Awards Program and presented the "Outstanding Corporation" Award! The AFP Annual Awards Program "recognizes outstanding achievement by individual, foundation and corporate philanthropists, fundraising volunteers and fundraising professionals."
Friedman was nominated for the award by Samaritan Healthcare and Hospice, who were one of the organizations Friedman donated to as part of our Brave the Shave event, earlier this year.
Friedman's recognition in the program booklet
"Friedman LLP - and in particular, Managing Partner Carl Bagell, and partners Lee Sheilds and Michael Saccomanno - have quietly been doing good in our community.
Recently, the respected accounting firm's Brave the Shave event made a big impact on three local charities: the Alicia Rose Victorious Foundation, the Johnny M. Foundation, and Samaritan Healthcare and Hospice.
After recovering from a stroke, partner Michael Saccomanno was - and remains - determined to give back to his community. Together, the firm's partners elected three local not-for-profits, and - with the support of the entire staff - planned and hosted a unique fundraising event. In from of a pack house of family, friends, colleagues and clients, Mike sat in a barber's chair and had his head completely shaved! The partners of the firm agreed to personally cover the event's expenses, so that all of the proceeds went directly to the benefiting charities. Brave the Shave raised over $70,000.
The firm's philanthropic spirit didn't start or end with Brave the Shave. Friedman Gives Back is part of their culture. Previous initiatives include working with the Alicia Rose Victorious Foundation, Friends of Jewish Senior Housing, Seth Nemeroff Foundation, Samaritan Healthcare and Hospice, Virtual, the Johnny M. Foundation, Boys and Girls Club, Habitat for Humanity, the Cancer Society and Heart Association, Cradles to Crayons, Make-a-Wish, and MANNA, just to name a few. Additionally, you will find members of the firm actively involved in vital nonprofits across our community.
AFP NJ, Southern Chapter is pleased to present the National Philanthropy Day award for "Outstanding Corporation" to Friedman LLP.
