A recent cyberattack has crippled the fuel supply of the East Coast. By using ransomware, hackers were able to lock up basic computer functions and files and steal information, causing the Colonial Pipeline to cease operations until resolved.
CyZen's Will Mendez helps explain to WUSA9 how a hack of this scale could happen, noting that with recent remote work, many companies haven't prepared their networks' security system.
“A lot of folks think that security is maybe a technology that [you] buy, or something like that,” Mendez explained. “But it's really a process. It's a layered approach."
